HaGiang

We arrived in Ha Giang a little before 8 o'clock in the morning and were greeted by dark clouds and cold rain falling in sheets on the misty mountains. It had a certain beauty of its own, but most of us were disappointed. We had travelled long to get here and were eager to begin our trek but the rain was playing spoilsport with our plans.

We went straight to Ong Thuan's house, our accomodation for the next few days. He had kindly offered to host our entire group and provide us with everything we needed for our stay. After drying off we were served a delicious bowl of soup and noodles that warmed us to the bones. Things couldn't have been more perfect (inspite of the rain). Suddenly, Adam came rushing in with an announcement. The rain had stopped and the sun was out. We thanked our hosts and rushed out to see the entire valley bathed in warm, glorious sunshine with little wisps of cloud dancing between the rays. What a sight it was...the sun, the hills with the green rice terraces and these wonderfully kind people. This country is truly blessed!
